This past month has been one of my absolute favorites with her! She’s so interactive and funny and joyful! She loves to scream, squeal and unfortunately… SPIT. But hey, it’s just a phase, right?
I love being a mom. I love this season of our life! But one of the things I didn’t realize about becoming a parent, was the hard reality that when you love someone so much, it physically hurts to see them hurt! I love Rand with all of my heart, but the love we have for Annabel is different. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. Sometimes I actually feel as if there is a small ache inside of me when she’s crying, or when I think about her being frustrated with having to take her medication 5 times a day. It’s a deep love and it is definitely the most rewarding love.
When I think about the early months and how challenging it was with hospital stay after hospital stay I’m so thankful for this stage we are in now! That we are able to wake up at home every day and snuggle with her without the wires from her heart monitor getting tangled up! Some days it feels so long ago and other days it’s still so fresh. But the medications are working and Annabel is so SO happy which is the most important thing!
So as always, here are some things I don’t want to forget about this past month!
- We started feeding her REAL FOOD! She currently loves bananas, squash and rice cereal! We tried at the end of August, but then the most successful eating started in September!
- She has started teething! No teeth yet, but I have a feeling she’ll be getting some soon!
- She loves being in the pool!
- She loves cooing, gurgling, squealing and GRUNTING!! It’s VERY entertaining!
- She started rolling from her back to her front! It was so much fun watching her reaction when she was finally successful!
- She started to put her toes in her mouth! Well really, EVERYTHING goes in her mouth!
- She loves to laugh! And has just started understanding the concept of peek-a-boo!
- She got to spend lots of time with her 2nd or 3rd (I’m really not too sure!) cousin Laila! The girls are 2 months apart and they played so well together!!
- She LOVES to HUG! When you pick her up, if you wrap her arms around your shoulder she will cuddle right into you.
Seriously? How did I get so lucky!
